JP Morgan Chase European Headquarters, Barbican, London UK

JP Morgan Chase & Co., the third-largest American bank, wanted to build a new 1 million square foot European headquarters in London’s City financial district.  The proposed building would have four trading floors, at 72,000 square feet each it would be the largest in London.  JP Morgan’s London operations are currently based in several buildings. The proposed new headquarters, is to be built between London Wall and Fore Street, this would house JP Morgan’s London investment banking business.

Podium

The position and shape of the tower have been informed by optimization of office views to the Thames, access from the garden to the Barbican, and planning views. The gently curving and sloped tower complements the adjacent rounded forms of Austral House, Moorhouse and Alban Gate. A four storey building of multiple uses, including some retail and a restaurant will be located at the western edge of the site, complementing the main building and providing an intimate enclosure to the public green space.
